When I was a teenager around 17-18 years old, I remember I watched an Asian Drama called Meteor Garden. I was totally hooked with the handsome actors and beautiful actresses. I remember the actor group called F4 and had many posters of them in my room. Then life got busy and I never watched any Asian dramas anymore.
Back in 2020, when the Covid-19 hit, I noticed that there’s no TV shows on Netflix called Crash Landing Into You. It was a Korean drama and I was curious what it’s all about. That’s the beginning of my Korean drama watching addiction. I liked the actors, the storyline, the language, the music, the songs, and everything!
The Korean industry is booming right now. It’s so popular in Indonesia, but not only that, It’s popular in UAE, the country that I used to reside in, and It’s popular in Australia, where I live right now. The Korean entertainment industry is booming all over the world. The global audience for K-pop and K-drama is increasing across the world. The wave of Korean culture popularity is called “ Hallyu”. Now the question is, why is Korean drama so addictive to watch? I cannot count how many Korean dramas I have been watching since early 2020. My favorite one is drama comedy, but I have watched different genres and still enjoy watching them.
